Uber Pet – A ride for all paws
Can’t get to a vet, contact Uber a pet-friendly ride option – Uber Pet – for riders travelling with a pet in Sydney, Brisbane and Auckland from 10 March 2020.
When a rider requests an Uber Pet trip, they agree to pay a little extra for their ride, which means you will earn more per trip than you would with UberX on the same route.
The trip type will be shown on the request screen in the Driver app.
FAQs
- How many pets can travel?
Uber Pet is limited to one pet per trip. If the rider has more pets, it will be left to the discretion of the driver to take them on the trip.
- What types of animals are allowed?
Uber Pet is designed for domesticated animals only. We anticipate cats and dogs to be the most frequent, but Uber Pet allows for any kind of domesticated animal to be brought on a trip – at the driver’s discretion. Riders are fully responsible for controlling their pet while on the trip. Drivers maintain the right to refuse animals they deem unsafe or uncontrolled.
- Do pets need to be caged?
To ensure the safety of the driver, riders and animal, we strongly encourage all riders to use a leash, harness or pet carrier during the trip. Riders are fully responsible for controlling their pet while on the trip.
- Who is responsible for any cleaning charges?
For minor issues related to pet hair, animal odour, or typical wear-and-tear, a cleaning fee will not apply. In the case of those incidents where car cleaning is necessary (e.g. urine, faeces, vomit, damage, etc.), riders will need to pay a cleaning fee. Cleaning fees will be assessed and charged according to the extent of damage.
The rider is solely responsible for the animal and its behaviour during the entire trip.
- How should I prepare for an Uber Pet trip?
Have a mat or blanket ready in the boot of your car for Uber Pet trips – you can lay this over the seat and feet areas in the back of your car. Remember to remove the mat or blanket after completing the Uber Pet trip in preparation for your next rider.

Rat lung worm normally inhabits the heart and pulmonary arteries of wild rats, where it rarely causes disease, as expected for an efficient parasite. To complete its lifecycle, however, the rat lung worms’ eggs are passed in the rat’s stool and ingested by an intermediate host – normally slugs or snails, where they develop into larvae. When these slugs or snails (or infected rats carrying the larval stages of worms) are ingested by accidental hosts such as dogs, serious disease can occur.
