Our Veterinary Services
The Importance of Professional Vet Services
When it comes to your pet’s health, we believe that prevention is always better than a cure. Our pets can’t tell us what’s wrong, and they often go to great lengths to hide an illness or injury. This is because, in the wild, an injury might mean being left behind and being vulnerable. This means that without proper vet care services and an assessment from a trained vet or vet nurse, we won’t know there’s a problem until it becomes a much more serious – and potentially life-threatening – issue.
At Sydney Animal Hospitals, we recommend regular health check-ups so that we can:
Collection of urine and blood samples
Uncover any underlying disorders that might be affecting your pets quality of life
Avoid any unnecessary pain or discomfort for your pet.
Ensure that your pet stays happier and healthier for longer.

Frequently Asked Questions
Common questions pet owners ask regarding general vet care
What General Vet Care Services Do You Offer?
We offer many different vet clinic services, including pet desexing and microchipping, dental care appointments, dog and cat vaccinations, health checks, flea and tick injections, and heartworm prevention treatments. As well as these standard animal hospital services, we can also diagnose and treat a wide range of skin conditions.
Do You Offer Emergency Vet Services?
Yes, we offer urgent vet care during regular opening hours at all of our Sydney Animal Hospitals locations. For after-hours emergencies, we refer patients to trusted 24/7 Sydney emergency vet hospitals. If your pet is experiencing a medical emergency—such as trauma, poisoning, seizures, or sudden illness—please call ahead or drop into your nearest clinic.
How Do I Know if My Pet Needs to See a Vet?
If your pet is showing signs of illness, sudden behavioural changes, or any other unusual symptoms, it’s best to book a vet appointment. Our team can advise whether your pet needs urgent care or if monitoring at home is safe.
How Often Should I Bring My Pet in for a Check-Up?
How regularly you bring your pet into our clinic for a health check-up is based on your pet’s age, species, and any conditions they may currently have or have previously had. Generally, we’d recommend coming in to see us at least once a year. During a visit, one of our highly trained vets will conduct a thorough physical examination of your pet as well as any necessary routine vaccinations or medication updates.
What Do I Need to Bring to the Vet for the First Time?
If you’re visiting us for the first time, bring any existing medical records for your pet, a list of current medications, vaccination history, and any questions you may have.
How Do I Book an Appointment for Veterinary Services in Sydney?
You can arrange a veterinary services appointment at any one of our seven Sydney Animal Hospitals clinics by calling one of their phone numbers above or booking online. Our clinics are located in Newtown, Stanmore in the Inner West, Norwest, Kellyville, Baulkham Hills, Newport, and Avalon. Walk-ins are always welcomed too, as long as you’re willing to wait if the clinic is busy.
