Emergency vet – animal emergency service
Please see our homepage or individual practice contact details for after-hours emergency phone numbers.
We recognize that even with appropriate preventive health care, emergencies can occur with your pet. Your Sydney Animal Hospitals Veterinary healthcare team is ready to provide your pet with emergency veterinary care should it be required. Of course, we hope your pet never needs us for an emergency.
However, if your pet does have an emergency our approach will include:
- An assessment by one of our trained veterinarians.
- An estimate of the costs involved with your case. However, animal emergency procedures costs can vary depending on what services and treatments are required.
- We will keep you updated regularly during the course of your pet's stay in our vet hospital.
- In some cases we may need to refer to a veterinary specialist centre or 24-hour animal emergency facility.
Please contact us to discuss our after-hours animal emergency arrangements – knowing this information before you actually need it can be valuable when in an emergency, every second counts!
Should I apply for Pet Insurance?
Generally speaking, we at Sydney Animal Hospitals would recommend pet insurance to most pet owners as it helps to cover any unexpected veterinary costs.
When it comes to choosing the right supplier, we recommend a thorough check of the terms and conditions attached to the policy as there can often be special requirements, such as a specific Cruciate ligament examination before cover will be extended to your pet.
We understand that the claims process can be stressful and time consuming, so we will endeavour to do everything we can to make the process as easy as possible.
In the event that you do need to make a claim at one of our clinics, please bring in your claim forms for us to complete the relevant sections and send to processing. Many insurance companies now accept claims online, our staff is happy to submit on your behalf.
If you need any further advice, please feel free to contact one of our clinics and talk to our staff.
